BJC named healthiest large employer in the St. Louis area

BJC HealthCare earned top honors for employee wellness in the St. Louis Business Journal’s first survey of the area’s healthiest employers.

BJC was named the winner among 12 companies in the category of large employers with 5,000 or more employees. A total of 42 companies were finalists in five categories based on size.

BJC was recognized for its wide range of “Help for Your Health” employee offerings that include free annual health screenings and health risk assessments, medical premium discounts for healthy behavior, fitness center discounts, innovative

cafeteria menus in partnership with Morrison, free smoking cessation assistance, annual incentive programs for wellness screenings, on-site Weight Watchers and the BJC Health Hall of Fame, an annual program honoring an employee from each hospital for personal health achievements.

“As the area’s largest employer, we take it very seriously that we should serve as a leader and an example relative to health,” said Kathleen Killion, BJC executive director of health literacy.
