money savings

When I pass by several of the BJC hospitals & facilities late at night, there are a lot of lights on in the doctor’s buildings and ancillary buildings. The hospital I work in has lights on continually in empty rooms & offices that are unoccupied. I think if we were more diligent about turning off these lights, we could save a pretty significant amount of money and also energy – since we are trying to go “green”.

Totally agree, Deb. Isn't there such a thing as a motion detector that could be installed in rooms? After a certain amount of time that there has been no movement, the lights automatically turn off. Not sure how much that kind of system costs though.
