"Your Rx is ready."

Rather than announce patients’ names, I would like pharmacies to have an LED board, where last names could be posted once their Rx is filled. This would allow people to leave the waiting area and know upon their return if their Rx ready.

Clever idea, And I wonder if they could achieve the same result by allowing you to "take a ticket" like a restaurant would do and post the number rather than a name when the prescription is ready….? Might help with privacy issues…In fact I'd be interested in hearing if others here think it would be a privacy issue….

They already yell your first and last names – at least seeing only your last name on the board would be slightly less public.

LOL. Good point.

They used to do something like that at the BJH Outpatient Pharmacy. I'm not sure why they stopped. There was a TV up on the wall, and an abbreviated version of the patient's name would be added to the scrolling list when his/her prescription was ready. My name, for example, would have been up there as "R JOH****"

I wonder why they got rid of it.

I would guess the TV with the partial names went away due to HIPAA issues – I personally don't care, but if I didn't want anyone to know I was having a prescription filled, there wouldn't be a whole lot of difference between KVEHE and KVEH*.
