I think the children,(6 & up,) should be able to create crafts. Create something for the nurses, ect.

St. Louis Children's Hospital has a number of coloring sheets, word puzzles and games available on their website: http://www.stlouischildrens.org/content/JustforKids.htm
What a great way to give kids info about their hospital visit!

St. Louis Childrens also utilizes the latest and greatest technology to entertain/educate kids. This article was featured on CNN and I think they are doing a great thing!
