In 2003, Bill Jehling established a vision center at the Sportsman's Park Unit of the Herbert Hoover Boys & Girls Club. Bill is President of Clarkson EyeCare and was looking for a way for his company to celebrate its 25th anniversary. During a tour of the Club, he saw our dental clinic and said "We can do the same thing for eyecare". Through the Clarkson EyeCare Foundation, Bill and his team secured the funding to build and equip the clinic. Free eye exams and glasses are provided for any member of the Club regardless of a family's ability to pay. In 2007, an additional clinic was established at the Adams Park Unit in the Forest Park Southeast neighborhood. Since 2003 hundreds of boys and girls have eye exams. Amazingly more than 60% of them need glasses, which are provided for free.

What a wonderfully generous gift to the children of our community. Thanks for addressing one of the impediments to a student's success. Hats off to Bill and the Clarkson EyeCare Foundation.
