Mayor, City of Clayton
Clayton, Missouri

Mayor Goldstein has lead the effort in Clayton and beyond to free patrons of restaurants and all public places from the health risks and hazards of second hand smoke. She knows that smoking and the effects of second hand smoke are directly linked to diseases of the heart and lung that might otherwise be avoidable absent exposure to tobacco smoke. She is a true health care hero!!!!

Thanks so much to Mayor Goldstein and the Clayton Board of Alderman for taking such a leadership role on this very important health issue. As a resident of the western end of St. Louis, I am excited that I will soon be able to visit restaurants in Clayton that are smoke free.

Mayor Goldstein took on the challenge for her community to have clean air. Clayton is at the heart of St. Louis County. I am joined by many in applauding her leadership to promote smoke free environments in Clayton.

When I learned that Mayor Linda Goldstein was leading an effort in the City of Clayton to enact smoke-free air legislation I was surprised and delighted. Clayton is an influential city and this bill clearly helped provide impetus for parallel efforts in both the City of St. Louis and St. Louis County. The unanimous approval by Clayton of a strong bill was important in the eventual success of both the city's effort by Ald. Lyda Krewson and the county's effort, led by Councilwoman Barbara Fraser. You have my deep appreciation and gratitude. Martin Pion, President, Missouri GASP http://www.mogasp.wordpress.com

Today, July 1, 2010 the hard work of Mayor Linda Goldstein and elected leadership of the City of Clayton bore fruit and I look forward to visiting all of the smoke-free restaurants in Clayton.
