james christeck | I would like to see Research done on the the "Flu" from the following point of view. It has always been my contention that the "Flu" is really a product of our having too much bacteria built up in our intestines and/or colon. I feel this way because most, if not all people get a case of diahrea along with all the other symptoms. The bout of diahrea cleanses out the intestines and colon and in a few days or less you're feeling well again. I would like to see a comparison made of people who eat a "normal" fatty di... more >>> |

james christeck | The one thing the Government could do to help the Private Hospitals is to begin a Boot Camp for Druggies. Druggies are the patients that never get well as they are always "in pain". I think once a patient under the age of 40 years old has been determined to be a chronic seeker of pain medication, he should be packed off to Boot Camp for a year. Face it, we all had to grow up and stop sucking our thumb at some point in Life and to me, the Government could be a big help in providing help in this area. Yes, sympathy were sympathy is d... more >>> |

james christeck | None of the proposals talked about contain any "Bricks and Mortar" to actually provide services to the Public. California has closed 5 Hospitals in as many years, East St. Louis doesn't have a Hospital any longer, not even a good sized Clinic. To me, I wish the Private Hospitals would stay Private as an individual person will have a better chance of getting quality Healthcare. As the old saying goes, "You get what you pay for." The job of the private Hospitals should be to bring costs down to an affordable level so the Pr... more >>> |

Steven Lipstein | As I read over many of the comments below, there is good discussion about how our health care system should think about providing health care for people who either do not have health insurance or who are otherwise unable to afford the cost of the health care services they need. I think it would help the conversation for everyone to appreciate that even when health care is provided free of charge to an individual in need, it still costs money to provide those services. Where does that money come from? It comes from you - the taxpayer, or i... more >>> |

james christeck | Having Prez. Obama approve marijuana for medical use is not good news. It says two things, 1) Traditional Medicine has been priced out the Market Place and 2)More people will "Stay Home and Get Stoned" and this will cause a breakdown of the Medical System including new Research. New Research to me, is important to the progress of humankind. Returning to the "Stoned Age" is going back in time, not forward. more >>> |

Eulonda Nevels | As a transitional housing provider we can help to support and make medicine better by encouraging those we serve and in our general community to: (1) once a month review all health care issues; (2) update medication list and keep notes for their next medical visit; (3) check for needed medication refills; (4) review upcoming and needed doctor's appointments; (5) keep a log of any new symptoms, side effects, or health care concerns; (6) carry information with you at all times for use in emergencies and (7) if possible use "one" pha... more >>> |

james christeck | Nurses spend many hours a day answering Telephone calls from Relatives who want to knowe how a loved one is doing. For the most part this is wated time as one relative could tell another relative and they could talk among themselves rather than chew up valuable time from a Nurse. I would recommend establishing a 1) Central Tower somewhere in the County 2) Issueing a message Code Number to one and only one relative who had is voice print taken at the time the patient was admitted. and 3) Updating the patient information every two hours by si... more >>> |

james christeck | I would like to see MoBap contract with a Bus Service Company (Greyhound) and bring High School Sports Teams into town for an Annual Physical Check-up to see if their Hearts are strong enough for competition. Every year young people lose their lives needlessly because they didn't know they had a heart condition. Contracting for a bus service for a few months in the summer would'nt cost all that much as the School Districts in Illinois, Kentucky, Tennessee, and Arkansas would be footing the bill. Guaranteed payment. more >>> |

james christeck | I would like to see BJC use the front of Food Stores for distributing information on Healthy Diets (Stoes lkike Dierbergs, Schnuks, Shop and Save) The diets I would like to see shown and distributed are 1) Heart and Vascular healthy 2) Diabetic, and a brand new one called 3) Allergy Healthy. Missouri is the number three ranking State for Allergies and why more isn't being done to aleve people's suffering has always been a mystery to me so please develop the Allergy Diet. As a lifetime sufferer the main thing I can say is that citrus fruits a... more >>> |

james christeck | One of the first things Prez. Obama brought up in the Healthcare debate was cutting costs. Not all Patients need the services of a Nurse particularly those who only need observation or minimal care. All businesses have to operate as efficiently as possible, don't believe me?Look at how the Auto Industry has been gutted. At one time many years ago, car bodies were welded by hand at the factories. Thousands of people made their livings as welders until the robot came along. There are several areas where Technology can be better used to reduce ... more >>> |
| I would like to patent Y2-Swine as opposed to Y2K. As we live in a media blitzed society, it always seems inequitable for the media to over-expose the latest acute buzz and overlook the chronic watered-downed stories that have larger impact overall. Thus the barrage of Swine Flu calamatous statistics creating a fevered pitch with all ages, when the silent CA killer continues its trek for the record books. I have always thought if people took the money that they "invest" in every powerball lottery ticket, pick 3, pick 5, pick ___ (... more >>> |

james christeck | To me the best way to pay for most of the un-compensated Health Care provided in America is to have the Government pick up the tab for all the un-paid Emergency Room visits to our Nations Hospitals (all) If a patient needs some in-patient Service beyond that, have the Government issue a voucher for the Surgery needed. The System I've described would cover a huge portion of our annual losses (and all other Hospitals as well) Lastly I would like to see the Government itself develop "Super Clinics" in specific neighborhoods, counties ... more >>> |

james christeck | I have often wondered why the State of Missouri allows the West County Mall to have it's own private exit ramp on Northbound 270 and we, who actually provide Medical Services to the Public do not. There is plenty of room to add one or even two or three exit lanes onto Northbound 270 and access the currently unused back portion of our surface Parking Lot next to the Main Doctors Building (ABC) Maybe nobody has ever thought of it, but it certainly would be worthwhile, not the least of which being its use by Ambulances. I wish the Hospital woul... more >>> |

Susan Gamble | Last week I came to Barnes(Queeny Tower location)for a flu shot . I want to publicly thank and commend all who organized and participated in the thoughtful and efficient organization of the process and administration of the flu shots. Although many people were there for the shots, I was in and out in under 10 minutes and off to work. I recommended it to many others as a quick and painless way to obtain this important preventive measure. Susan Gamble more >>> |

Kelly Davis | Senate Panel Meets for Vote Amid Controversy Over Costs Janice Simmons, for HealthLeaders Media, October 13, 2009 The Senate Finance Committee will meet today to vote on its 10-year $829 billion reform package—with a wall of controversy facing it. After working with the committee for months on reform provisions, America's Health Insurance Plans (AHIP) appeared to have reversed course Monday by criticizing the emerging plan in a report that said the legislation could ratchet up the cost of coverage. A report, prepared by Pricewate... more >>> |

james christeck | I would like the Hospital to consider a "Self Care" unit for people who are only their to be monitored and/or having a low risk procedure and can be monitored electronicaly. The S.S.M. (a competitor) has a patients room fully stocked, including dry meds (pills) right at the bedside and it would be easy enough to have the box the pills are in, monitored by a computer. When it is time for the patient to take his pills have a "reader" that either reads his fingerprint and/or his retina for Identification of the Patient and t... more >>> |

james christeck | I would like to see the title of Assistant Nurse Managers changed to "Floor Manager" as maybe, just maybe, they would be more visible and more importantly more helpful out, on the Patient Floor. There are technologies available that make "being at a desk" obsolete. Why not borrow the technology used at fast food restaurants where the person answering the drive through window has his hands free to make French fries. Computers are everywhere and you can even take a "cow" into the bathroom if being near a computer ... more >>> |

james christeck | I would like to see a bed that "flushes away" Human waste for eldely patients by the thousands who have avoidable skin breakdown on their buttocks. Caregivers in Nursing Homes and I'm sorry to say Hospitals as well, do not change diapers on their patients frequently enough and painful breakdown of skin causes patients needless infections. I once had a patient with an ulcer so big I could put my fist in it. A flushing bed is doable. Also, I would like to see siderails that open outward like the "suicide doors" on old Mercury Sedans (circa 194... more >>> |
| I've had many conversations with friends, family, and co-workers about health reform over the past few months, and found the question of whether hospitals ought to provide care to be pivotal. I've heard many arguments about why America ought not pass health reform, at the same time many of the people arguing against reform agree that hospitals ought to be required to provide care. If hospitals are required to provide care, it makes sense for the government to be involved in trying to help lower costs, and provide opportunity for the syst... more >>> |

Scott Ragan | BJC has created nine preventable harm teams who are reviewing proccesses throughout the BJC facility to determine where the potential for caregiver-induced harm can be eliminated.
