| Patti Wahl 03/18/2010 05:15:03 PM | Gary, Good question. It is BJC’s preference to provide broad access to insurance coverage in the communities we serve. However, it is not always possible to come to agreement with every insurance company on rates or the rules we will be required to follow, such as the process to get approval to provide your care, limits on your coverage, how to submit bills, etc. A written contract protects our patients, BJC, and the insurance company. That is why we insist on written contracts between BJC and the insurance company that are satisfactory to both parties. Unfortunately, as with the plans referenced, it is not always possible to reach mutual agreement on the terms of such a contract. Patti Wahl Director, BJC Managed Care | |
| Gary Shipper 03/21/2010 08:16:03 PM | Sorry to hear that as it means my wife and I are unlikely to continue care with BJC. The rates for medicare supplements are too high; Advantage plans work much better with our budget. |
